Shanghai Nights

Bullet train to Shanghai, 800 miles in 4 hours, no biggie

Arriving in Shanghai from Beijing, was like stepping from the 20th century to the 21st century - incredible infrastructure, hundreds of skyscrapers, modern technology, Shanghai had it all.

Shanghai to westerners, is always seen as the modern city in China, a commercial hub and one which caters to every individual. I was curious to see this in action. It started with a trip to ‘The Bund’ - and no, not the slang term, the area by the river where you get to see the boats, flashing lights of the buildings and people rushing to cash the hourly show.

The Bund was enticing, you could easily perch up and watch the lights ignite the skyline for hours, and whilst that was tempting, we did not end up doing it. Instead we went down the famous Nanjing road (apparently the world’s longest shopping street) it was long when I think back.

Having been in China for 4 days, and not having eaten any halal food - Shanghai with it’s more international population, I knew there was some halal food out there… which is when we came across Lazhou Beef Noodles. The rest was history!
